Why is my Honda Civic 2014 not starting? ›

The number one reason your Honda won't start is likely the battery. There are many issues that can cause a battery to die, such as corrosion around the connections, bad wiring, or simply age. If a jump-start won't fix this issue, it may be time to get your battery replaced.

The starter relay in a 2013 Honda Civic is in the engine compartment fuse box. The tools You will need to replace it are a 10-millimeter socket, ratchet and a Phillips head screwdriver.

The primary under-hood fuse box is in the engine compartment on the driver's side. To open it, push the tabs as shown. The interior fuse box is on the driver's lower left side. The secondary under-hood fuse box is next to the battery.

The most common reasons a Honda Civic won't start are a dead battery, an alternator problem, or failed starter.

A low battery is the most frequent cause of a car having power but not turning over. Other causes include a bad starter, a bad alternator, or electrical issues. Your fuse box will have two sets of fuses. At the bottom will be 15-amp and 20-amp screw-in fuses with glass faces that are exposed and visible. These fuses will service branch light circuits and outlet circuits. At the top will be 30-amp or 40-amp cartridge main fuses for ovens, laundry rooms, or stoves.

Usually, you will find two fuse boxes in the car. One is located under the hood and the other is found in the dashboard or near the steering wheel.

Usually, it will be in your garage or your basem*nt. Open the fuse box and look at the glass containers that hold the fuses. If you can see that the fuse is visibly broken, or there is metallic residue on the glass from the fuse blowing, you will need to replace that particular fuse.

The first thing to do is find your main fuse box (these days called a consumer unit), which will be in the same place as your electricity meter. They're often in the main hallway of a house, in a purpose-built cupboard.

Check the Battery and Terminals: A dead battery might be the culprit behind the problem, or loose terminals also lead to engine start issues. If you find that the battery is dead, you can charge it or replace it with a new battery. And, if the terminals are loose or dirty, clean and secure them by tightening.
